Automobile sector

The automobile sector represents, both in fields of technology and methodology, one of the most structured contexts in terms of organization, research and development. Since his varied context, in the first instance, we can divide the application range into:

  • Propeller body (engine);
  • Chassis and transmission (everything that transmits and allows the motion);
  • Motion services (everything must be activated to guarantee points # 1 and # 2);
  • User services (everything must be activated at the service of the passenger and comfort).

Since these are completely different roles and purposes, a specific component-by-component approach is fundamental, analyzing (in its own context) the different assemblies and related sub-groups.

Materials, Lubrication and Temperatures

Materials, Lubrication and Temperatures

As told, any different appliance match with different environmental conditions and relative thermal stress.
A rational design looks, first of all, at the technical features uniformity in term of materials: in order to avoid waste and standardize the expected life of each component.

Duty Cycle & Life Calculation

Duty Cycle & Life Calculation

Automotive specifications frequently requires to evaluate working conditions, whether they are more or less severe, in order to simulate (relatively quickly) the occurred consuption during the normal use of the vehicle. ISO 281/2007 standard allows to simulate these conditions and to replicate them on the bench: this kind of engineering approach admits a considerable saving in leadtime and evaluations aimed to produce representative prototypes for homologation tests.

Dust Test & Mud Test

Dust Test & Mud Test

Each specific exposure, whether of liquid or solid origin (vehicle washing, rain, off-road use ...) requires a different resistance ahead intrusions. The sealing efficiency system is represented by the labyrinth (complex) shape, defined at the contact between the Seal (with 1 or more lips) and the ring Groove (different types) present on rings. Ideally: a difficult path means an efficient labyrinth. In this sense, many technical solutions are available, both for Standard and Customized needs.

Key features

Key features

1. Analysis & Technical Feasibility, in order to pass the Homologation Test on Final Customer Appliance;
2. Documentations & PPAP, Automotive level;
3. Coupling tollerances and Clearances, designed to meet mounting exigences;
4. Super pure 100Cr6 steels to increase the bearing life;
5. Plastic or Steel Cages, to Gabbie in Plastica to support the best behavior of the rolling elements;
6. Seals and Lubricant Materials, to ensure the thermal behavior with applicance conditions;
7. Life Test, on bench, monitoring temperatures and vibrations;
8. Sealing infiltration test, with dust and mud, through the use of mixtures with prescribed particle size;
9. Comparative tests with similar product, market standard or customized solutions.

Our Challenges

Our Challenges

1. Operative conditions
- Vechicle nominal data;
- Simulating the Duty Cycle;
- Achieving the“Killer test” by Final Customer;

2. Homologation needs
- Accelerated Life test, on bench;
- Resistance to developed heat;
- Sealing efficiency (ahead intrusions by Dust and Mud).
